i'm not sure japanese people are less religious or more secular, but i think we could feel a sense of relief by comparing with this depressive situation in America, a post in a grad student's blog. most of japanese people believe there are some supernatural things, but the word religion itself, 'SYUKYOU', has negative connotations, which might have been swollen by a number of deplorable affairs in religious groups, especially the deadly terror attacks by AUM. at least, we can live without referring to religions or faith at all.
or, is this intuition completely wrong? had i been judged according to my beliefs?
